HIGHLAND, CALIF. (October 22, 2021) – The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and Assemblyman James Ramos are deeply disappointed by the racist performance and mockery of Native Americans by a Riverside high school teacher as seen in a widely circulated video. This despicable behavior dehumanizes Native Americans and undermines the progress we believed we were making with respect to the treatment of Native people in California and the United States. This abhorrent conduct must be condemned in the strongest possible terms, particularly because it was carried out by an educator who is responsible for teaching our young people the values of integrity, respect and dignity of all people.
